A ham and pepperoni Listeria recall has been expanded to include 2.3 million pounds of 27 products sold under 12 brand names. The brand names included in the recall are: Wellshire, Alexander & Hornung, Food Club, Butcher Boy, Niman Ranch, Garrett Valley Farms, Open Nature, Amish Country, Amish Valley, Lancaster, Five Star, and Big Y. Consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them as Listeria can cause serious illness and death. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriage and stillbirth.

Ham and Pepperoni Listeria Recall
On December 5, 2021, Alexander & Hornung of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, which is a business unit of Perdue Premium Meat Company, Inc., issued a recall for approximately 234,391 pounds of fully cooked ham and pepperoni products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The company discovered the problem during routine testing. The recall was expanded December 11, 2021.
Some of the products were sold by multiple retailers, others are store brands. Big Y is a chain with stores in MA and CT. Open Nature is a Safeway store brand.
The expanded recall includes ham and pepperoni products that were distributed nationwide and have the establishment number “EST. M10125” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The 27 products recalled for Listeria risk have the following descriptions, sizes, and “sell by” dates:

Listeria Symptoms
At the time of the recall, the company was unaware of any illnesses associated with these products. However, symptoms can take as long as 70 days to develop, so consumers who ate ham or pepperoni before the recall should monitor themselves for symptoms. Symptoms of a Listeria infection include high fever, severe headache, stiff neck, other muscle stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
