Greenhead Lobster Listeria Recall

Greenhead Lobster Products of Bucksport, Maine has issued a recall for frozen, cooked lobster meat that is potentially contaminated with Listeria. At the time of the recall, the company was not aware of any illnesses. However, consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them as Listeria can cause serious illness and death. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriage and stillbirth.

Symptoms of a Listeria infection include severe headache, stiff neck, other muscle stiffness, fever, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions. These symptoms usually develop within two weeks of eating contaminated food but can sometimes take as long as 70 days to develop.
