Recall: Organic Spinach Sold at Target Stores

Superior Foods, Inc. issued a recall of frozen, organic spinach distributed to Target stores nationwide. The spinach may be tainted with deadly Listeria monocytogenes.

The recall involves Simply Balanced Organic Chopped Spinach in a 10-ounce bag, with UPC 85239 00663 and the following production date and best-by codes:

  • 4360SF3 through 7 J1 Best By 26/06/2016;
  • 4360SF3 through 7 J2 Best By 26/06/2016;
  • 5026SF4 through 8 J1 Best By 26/07/2016;
  • 5026SF4 through 8 J2 Best By 26/07/2016;
  • 5051SF2 through 4 J1 Best By 20/08/2016;
  • 5051SF2 through 4 J2 Best By 20/08/2016.

The company took this action after it was notified by one of its suppliers that Superior Foods may have received organic spinach contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

According to the recall announcement, the company is not aware of any reports of illness caused by these products.
