Fred was selected for their representation of a number of people who developed severe injuries following ingestion of a food product (the case is subject to a confidentiality provision).
The case was incredibly complicated. Because of the extreme rarity of the illness presentation in these cases and a general lack of knowledge regarding the mechanism of injury, there was no medical literature supporting a cause and effect relationship between the product, its ingredients and the medical condition. This resulted in an international search to identify competent experts who later conducted peer-reviewed scientific research that demonstrated the mechanism by which the food product caused harm.
The case was resolved after almost two years of litigation pursuant to an aggregate eight-figure settlement.
