Lawyer for Legionnaires’ Disease from 24 Hour Fitness

A 24 Hour Fitness member who contracted Legionnaires’ disease from the club in Memphis, TN, has hired attorney Fred Pritzker to represent him in a lawsuit and settlement negotiations with the company and its insurance company.

In July of this year, 3 cases of Legionnaires’ disease (Legionella pneumonia) were linked to the 24 Hour Fitness facility located at 1285 Ridgeway Road, Memphis, Tennessee. The company later sent a letter to their members letting them know that the Shelby County Health Department had notified them of these members who developed Legionella pneumonia after using the spa and steam room at the facility. The dates of concern are May 21 to June 21, 2013. The facility has now been cleared of Legionella bacteria.

Legionella bacteria contamination is a known risk for owners of facilities with spas and steam rooms. Health departments require testing for the pathogen and aggressive maintenance to prevent contamination. The reason for the concern is that Legionnaires’ disease (caused by breathing in Legionella) is often fatal and can cause serious, permanent injury.

Victims of Legionnaires’ disease outbreaks have the right to sue the owner of the building, the owner of the business (if different) and possibly others for money damages. This not only provides needed financial assistance to victims and their families but helps prevent future outbreaks at the facility. You can contact Fred for a free consultation here about your Legionnaires’ disease claim.
