3 DePuy Pinnacle Hip Lawsuit Facts

Attorney Fred Pritzker and his Hip Recall Law Team are helping patients get compensation for defective hip implants. Below are 3 things you should know about a DePuy Pinnacle hip lawsuit.

  1. DePuy Orthopaedics is owned by Johnson & Johnson, so the company will have money to pay the patients injured by its Pinnacle® hip system.
  2. A jury awarded $8.3 million in a lawsuit against DePuy (J&J) in a case involving another hip product, the ASR XL Acetabular Hip System.  This was a bellwether (test trial) case to determine the value of other cases and encourage settlements. The first bellwether trial for the DePuy Pinnacle is planned for Fall 2014.
  3. The DePuy Pinnacle® hip has different liner options. It is the metal-on-metal product that is the subject of most of the lawsuits. The lawsuits claim that Pinnacle® implants failure early due to metallosis (chromium and cobalt poisoning). What happens is tiny metal shavings (ions) get into the tissue, bone and blood. The result is metallosis, which causes implant failure and other complications. You have the right to sue for any damage done to you by a Pinnacle hip replacement product.
