In fact, the CDC has a publication specifically about Legionella bacteria (the cause of Legionnaires’ disease, also referred to as Legionella pneumonia) and hot tubs (also called spas):

How is Legionella spread in hot tubs?
Hot tubs (or spas) that are not cleaned and disinfected enough can become contaminated with Legionella. A personcan get infected with Legionella when they breathe in steam or mist from a contaminated hot tub. Legionella can also be found in cooling towers, plumbing systems, and decorative pools or fountains.

The 24 Hour Fitness on Ridgeway Road has closed its spa and pool as the Shelby County Health Department investigates the outbreak.
