Stryker Hip Surgery at New England Baptist Hospital?

David Szerlag, lead attorney for our Styker hip litigation team, is providing free consultations to people in the Boston area injured by hip implant products recalled by Stryker Orthopaedics, specifically Rejuvenate and ABGII modular neck and stem components. David and his team, including attorney Fred Pritzker, have filed lawsuits on behalf of several patients and is preparing to file more.

You can contact David for your free consultation here if you had your hip replacement surgery at New England Baptist Hospital, Newton-Wellesely or another Boston-area hospital. It will not cost you anything to talk to David about your legal rights and whether you are entitled to compensation. You can meet with him at his Boston area office or at a location that is convenient to you.

David’s clients have had or are scheduled to have revision surgery to remove and replace the defective Stryker hip implant products. Our experience is that some patients who have had these hip revision surgeries continue to have pain and gait (walking)  issues.  The reason appears to be that the metallosis (metal poisoning) caused by the Stryker hip parts can permanently damage tissue and bone in the implant area, making it extremely difficult to implant another hip replacement system.

Because the Stryker stem is implanted into the femur (upper leg bone), revision surgery is extremely invasive. We believe that, in addition to other compensation, patients should be compensated for the pain and recovery time caused by this surgery.

What is the Problem with Stryker Rejuvenate and ABGII Stem and Neck Products?

In July of 2012, Stryker recalled its Rejuvenate and ABGII modular neck and stem products after reports of corrosion where the stem and neck join (see image above). This corrosion causes small particles of metal (chromium and cobalt) to be “shaved” off and get into the surrounding tissue and the blood stream, in some cases killing tissue and bone. The result is often failure of the hip replacement and the need for revision surgery. The primary symptom of Stryker hip failure is pain.

David Szerlag is lead attorney for our Stryker litigation team and has offices in the Boston, MA area. He represents injured clients nationwide and has won millions, including over $40 million for clients injured by another unsafe medical product.
