Howmedica Osteonics (Stryker) Hip Recall Lawsuits, Attorney David Szerlag Admitted Pro Hac Vice

Attorney David Szerlag has been admitted pro hac vice to represent several clients in lawsuits against Howmedica Osteonics Corporoation, dba, Stryker Orthopaedics.  David and Attorney Fred Pritzker are representing dozens of patients injured by Stryker hip implants that the company recalled in July of 2012:  ABGII Modular Stems, ABGII Modular Necks, Rejuvenate Modular Neck and Stem components.

Fred and David have filed several lawsuits for patients in Minnesota, Massachusetts and Wisconsin, and will be filing additional lawsuits for patients in these and other states, including Illinois, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. They filed all of the lawsuits in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen County, Howmedica’s principle place of business.

“Consolidating all of the cases in Bergen County, New Jersey, is in the best interests of our clients,” said David, who, with Fred, recently won over $40,000,000 for clients injured by another medical product. “The benefit of consolidation is that pre-trial procedures will not have to be duplicated, yet each lawsuit maintains its own identity. This is a strategy we have used successfully in the past.”

David is licensed to practice in Massachusetts, Minnesota and Rhode Island. Because he has been admitted pro hac vice, David will be able to represent his Stryker hip clients in the Superior Court of New Jersey.

“Every patient who has a recalled Stryker hip implant has the legal right to compensation for injuries suffered because of the recalled product,” said David. Many of his clients have had or will be having revision surgery to remove and replace the recalled Stryker hip implants. Stryker hip revision surgery patients deserve compensation for the pain and suffering caused by this surgery, which involves removing the Stryker Rejuvenate or ABGII modular stem from the patient’s femur.
