Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP)

Blood Clot TTPThrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) occurs when too many platelets are destroyed. With TTP, tiny thrombi (blood clots) form in blood vessels throughout the body, but particularly in the central nervous system (CNS) and kidneys. Because the formation of the thrombi (blood clots) uses an abnormally high number of platelets, the number of platelets in the bloodstream decreases to dangerously low levels.

TTP is related to hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a condition where the formation of thrombi results in the destruction of red blood cells. TTP is sometimes referred to as "adult-HUS".  TTP and HUS are often caused by an Escherichia coli O157:H7 infection.

If you developed TTP from an E. coli infection, you may have a claim against a food manufacturer, distributor, retailer or restaurant.

Our lawyers have been interviewed by The Associated Press, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Lawyers USA, ABC, CBS and others. To contact an E. coli lawyer at the firm, please call 1-888-377-8900 (toll free), email Attorney Fred Pritzker or submit the online form for a free consultation.

Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP) Treatment

If your TTP was caused by E. coli O157:H7, you may have a claim against responsible parties for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering and other damages.
