South Point Hotel Legionnaires’ Outbreak

Nevada health officials are investigating a Legionnaires’ disease outbreak at the South Point Hotel that includes at least two people. One stayed at the hotel in August 2024, the other was a guest in February 2025.

Our Legionnaires’ Disease Lawyers are Representing Someone Sickened in this Outbreak.

Legionnaires’ disease is a severe, often fatal, form of pneumonia that people get when they inhale water vapor that is contaminated with Legionella bacteria.  Legionella bacteria are found in nature but grow best in warm water of manmade structures such as commercial plumbing systems, fountains, and hot tubs. It is not contagious.

After being notified of the cases, the Nevada Health District investigators collected and tested water samples from the hotel, and several were positive for Legionella. South Point Hotel responded by conducting remediation efforts, follow-up testing, and precautionary measures to reduce risk.
