IMUSA Espresso Makers Recalled for Burn Hazard

IMUSA espresso makers are being recalled for burn hazard. The filler cap at the top can crack allowing steam to escape and burn the user, or blow off the unit from pressure buildup and injure the user.

imusa-espresso-maker-recallForty-three incidents have been reported, including at least one man whose hands were burned. Consumers who have purchased this product should stop using it and contact the company for a replacement filler cap.

About 17,500 units, which were sold at Kmart, Sears, Target and other stores nationwide from July 2014 through November 2014 for between $30 and $45, are included in the recall. They are black or gray and black and have model numbers GAU-18200 and GAU-18201. The caps on the recalled espresso makers have date codes “201407” to “201411” The model number and date codes appear on a rating label on the bottom of the espresso maker.
