Munire Crib Lawsuit

Our law firm represents children and their families in personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits against manufacturers, and we have recovered millions on their behalf.

Below are recalls issued by Munire Furniture, Inc. (Munire), of Piscataway, New Jersey.  The recalls involve possible lead paint poisoning and possible falls.

Possible Lead Paint Poisoning

In December 2008, the Munire issued a recall of about 3,000 “Newport Rubbed Black 4-in-1” cribs and 6,000 matching furniture pieces. This recall was initiated after the company received reports of a child who ingested the paint and was diagnosed with lead poisoning. The recall involves cribs that were manufactured between April 2006 and November 2008 and sold at specialty furniture stores nationwide during the same time period.

Munire Crib Recall Due to Fall Hazard

In February 2008 Munire recalled about 24,000 Majestic, Essex, Brighton/Sussex, and Captiva cribs because they failed to meet federal crib safety standards. The support brackets on the mattress support spring are too long, and prevent the spring from lowering to the full 26-inch minimum height in its lowest position, which could allow children inside the crib to crawl over the railing and pose a fall hazard. The recalled products were sold at specialty juvenile product stores nationwide from November 2005 through November 2007.

Crib model numbers are printed on the white label on the bottom inside of the right side rail and the date of manufacture is printed on a white label near the model number or on a white label on the bottom of the headboard.
