Zimmer Persona Knee Product Recall Affects VA Medical Centers

Several VA hospitals may have used Zimmer Persona Knee Trabecular Metal Tibial Plates before they were recalled. The recall was issued by Zimmer, Inc., an Indiana firm, after an increase in complaints of radiolucent lines (an indicator of early failure) and loosening. All sizes (C-J left and right) and lots were subject to recall.

The following VA Medical Centers were affected, according to the FDA:

  • 2501 W 22 SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota 57105;
  • 1 Freedom Way, Augusta, Georgia 30904;
  • 700 S 19TH Street, Birmingham, Alabama 35233;
  • 1400 VFW Parkway, West Roxbury, Massachusetts 02132;
  • 3495 Bailey Avenue, Buffalo, New York 14215;
  • 4100 West 3RD Street BLDG # 330, Dayton, Ohio 45428;
  • 1481 West 10TH Street Indianapolis, Indiana 46202;
  • 1700 South Lincoln Avenue, Lebanon, Pennsylvania 17042;
  • 915 N Grand BLVD, St, Louis, Missouri 63106;
  • 350 La Jolla Village DR, San Diego, California 92161;
  • 1111 East End Boulevard, Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania 18711; and
  • 975 Kirman Avenue, Reno, Nevada 89502.
