Mr. Hageman received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire and his law degree, cum laude (with honors), from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Before joining Pritzker Olsen, Mr. Hageman was with Flynn, Gaskins & Bennett, where he represented clients in a wide variety of litigation matters, including civil rights, plaintiffs’ personal injury, criminal defense, as well as defending companies in products liability cases. This invaluable experience as a defense attorney benefits his clients at Pritzker Olsen, where he exclusively represents plaintiffs in personal injury and wrongful death cases.
The following are two cases in which Eric helped achieve successful results for his clients (click here for more top settlement and verdict information):*
Sandberg v. Western National Mutual Insurance Co., Hennepin County District Court, Case No. 27-CV-10-10984, Jury Award, $2,469,000.00, April 24, 2011
Fred Pritzker and Eric Hageman represented the family of a 53-year old bicyclist who was run over at an intersection by a right-turning tractor-trailer. Her husband used some of the proceeds from the jury verdict to set up a foundation to promote bicycle safety.

Confidential Settlement
Total Settlement: $2,560,000Fred Pritzker and Eric Hageman represented a couple whose car was hit by a semi truck as both vehicles were traveling in the same direction on a four-lane highway, causing our clients’ vehicle to spin out of control and cross the highway median, where it was struck by another vehicle. The husband, the passenger in the car, suffered multiple fractures and a traumatic brain injury. Initially, our clients were determined to be at-fault for crossing into the truck’s lane, but we were able to prove that, in fact, the truck had crossed into our clients’ lane. Further details of the suit and settlement are confidential.
Mr. Hageman’s trial experience led him to author an article, “Winning the Credibility Battle in Plaintiffs’ Personal Injury Cases.” The article provides practice pointers on dealing with the potential problem of juror bias.
"I love the different sides of being a plaintiff’s lawyer; helping injured people obtain justice; and, also, forcing people or companies to be accountable for their actions. Helping people achieve justice is obviously the biggest motivator in this profession and it’s why I became a plaintiff’s lawyer in the first place.
But there’s another part of it - in almost every single one of my cases, someone has done something wrong and they aren’t taking responsibility for it. Contrary to what people might think, my clients are, almost always, simply seeking some accountability on the part of the wrong-doer. It’s my job to make sure that wrong-doer takes responsibility for their actions, by paying money to make my client whole again.
I aggressively represent my clients’ interests to make that happen, not backing down until my clients have achieved their goals. That is the most rewarding part of being a plaintiff’s lawyer."
Mr. Hageman is licensed to practice law in Minnesota state and federal courts. He is also admitted to the federal courts of appeal for the 6th, 7th and 8th Circuits, as well as the United States Supreme Court. He represents clients in other states by retaining the services of a local attorney, who then moves to have him admitted pro hac vice, meaning "for this particular occasion."
Mr. Hageman is married to Jill Coyle, general counsel for Independent School District 196. Mr. Hageman and his wife have five children. When not practicing law, Mr. Hageman enjoys spending time with his family.
Eric is active in the community and regularly volunteers for youth organizations. Below is Eric at the Highland Friendship Club's annual bowling fundraiser, Lanes for Friendship. Law firm staff members bowled with Friendship Club members and spent the afternoon with special guest Joe Mauer. Pritzker Olsen has sponsored this event for the past two years.
