A motorist impaired by potent prescription narcotics fatally struck a woman walking in Princeton, MN on Monday. Catherine Lynn (69) was walking along the shoulder of County Road 2, less than a mile away from her home when a car ran her over from behind. The crash happened just before 4:30 P.M. Lynn had been walking with her longtime partner Thomas Johnson, who called 911.
The car’s driver Thomas Jones (55), told police that he was distracted while “reaching for a can of pop,” and that he has prescriptions for morphine and oxycodone. Jones was charged on Wednesday with criminal vehicular homicide. His criminal history includes one conviction for drunk driving and two other convictions for driving with a canceled license. The Minnesota Department of Safety says that his license was valid at the time of the crash.
