Attorney Brendan Flaherty held a roundtable discussion about current trends and issues in foodborne illness litigation. He presented with Chris Lee, a well-known and experienced lawyer who represents restaurants and other food producers.
“I’ve faced Chris in litigation many times,” Brendan said. “He is a great advocate for his clients and we have mutual respect for each other, even when we disagree and are on opposite sides. We do presentations like this because both sides can agree and speak to the importance of safe food.”
The roundtable was entitled “Food Safety from Farm to Fork: Litigation Perspectives” and was hosted by the ABA Section of Litigation, Food and Supplements Subcommittee.”
The roundtable offered an overview of foodborne illness litigation from both the plaintiff’s and defendant’s perspective and outlined the major hurdles faced by plaintiffs as well as the potential pitfalls awaiting food sellers, distributors and producers.
