Yamaha Motorcycle Recall: Leak in Fuel Pump may result in Fire and Burn Injuries
Yamaha is recalling 8,900 MY 2006-2007 CP250 and MY 2005-2007 YP400 motorcycles. A leak at the fuel pump seal may allow fuel leakage. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire. Dealers will replace the fuel pump seal. The recall is expected to begin on or about June 7, 2007.
Yamaha XV19 Motorcycle Recall: Possible Stuck Throttle Leading to Motorcycle Crash
Yamaha is recalling 8,500 MY 2006 XV19 motorcycles equipped with a windshield. The throttle cable can kink at the guide bracket located at the steering head when the handlebar is turned all the way to the left. In this position, a kinked cable can cause the throttle to stick or bind, possibly failing to return to idle. A stuck throttle would result in unexpected engine power which could result in loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the guide bracket with a new one that has an additional guide to prevent the throttle cables from kinking. The recall began on April 19, 2007.
Yamaha Warrior Motorcycle Recall: Engine Stall Risk
Yamaha is recalling 18,000 MY 2002-2007 Road Star Warrior motorcycles. The lead wires for the pick-up coil can break while the engine is running, causing the engine to stall and be impossible to restart. If this occurs while the motorcycle is being ridden, a vehicle crash could occur. Dealers will replace the pick-up coil. The recall began on March 2, 2007.
Yamaha Motorcycle Recall: Crash Hazard
Yamaha is recalling 13,000 MY 2006 YZFR6 motorcycles. The air filter mounting screws may come loose and fall out. If the screws fall out, they could get caught in the throttle valve which could prevent the operator from reducing engine speed properly. This could result in a loss of control and a vehicle crash with injury or death. Dealers will replace the air filter element with a new one that is designed to hold the screws securely. The recall was expected to begin at the end of November 2006.
Yamaha Road Star Motorcycle Recall: Crash Hazard
October 2006 – Yamaha is recalling 20,000 MY 1999-2001 Road Star, Road Star Silverado, Midnight Star, and Road Star Mm Limited (XV1600) motorcycles. Certain transmission components may not meet Yamaha quality-control standards, which could allow abnormal wear that eventually results in a broken retaining circlip. If the circlip breaks, the transmission could lock up, which would also cause the rear wheel to lock up. This could result in loss of control and a crash with injury or death. Dealers will replace certain transmission components with new ones free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during October 2006. This is an expansion of a previous recall campaign conducted during 2003 (please see 03V309). This recall was the subject of a Preliminary Evaluation, PE03-038, conducted by the Office of Defects Investigation.
