Wisconsin Semi Truck Accident Lawsuit Venue
Venue for your case (where your lawsuit is filed) depends on the facts. It may be another state or in state or federal court in Wisconsin.
The federal district court system in Wisconsin is divided into the U. S. District Court Western District of Wisconsin and the U. S. District Court Eastern District of Wisconsin:
- The Western District of Wisconsin is comprised of the following counties: Adams, Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Buffalo,Burnett, Chippewa, Clark, Columbia, Crawford, Dane, Douglas, Dunn, Eau Claire, Grant, Green, Iowa, Iron, Jackson, Jefferson, Juneau, La Crosse, Lafayette, Lincoln, Marathon, Monroe, Oneida, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, Portage, Price, Richland, Rock, Rusk, Sauk, St. Croix, Sawyer, Taylor, Trempealeau, Vernon, Vilas, Washburn, and Wood.
- The Eastern District of Wisconsin is comprised of the Green Bay and Milwaukee Divisions. The Green Bay division includes the following counties: Brown, Calumet, Door, Florence, Forest, Kewaunee, Langlade, Manitowoc, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, Outagamie, Shawano, Waupaca, Waushara and Winnebago. The Milwaukee division includes Dodge, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Kenosha, Marquette, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Walworth, Washington and Waukeesha counties.
The Wisconsin circuit courts are the state’s trial courts. Currently, there are 249 circuit court judges in Wisconsin. The circuit courts are divided into branches with at least one branch in every county, with the exception of six counties that are paired off and share judges. The paired counties are: Buffalo/Pepin, Florence/Forest, and Shawano/Menominee. The first two pairs are each staffed by a single judge who travels between the courthouses; Menominee County is a federal reservation and both judges for this circuit are located in Shawano. Of the remaining circuits, 26 have a single judge and the largest circuit is Milwaukee County with 47 judges.
Wisconsin Semi Truck Accident: Trucking Company Insurance
Interstate trucking companies have to meet insurance requirements to cover accidents in Wisconsin involving personal injury and wrongful death. Insurance companies do whatever they can to minimize settlements to accident victims. It is their job. Our job as attorneys is to get them to pay victims and their families full and adequate compensation for medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, emotional distress and other damages.
The insurance generally covers an accident with a car, motorcycle, bicycle, bus, van, SUV or other vehicle. If the semi truck driver was at fault, the insurance company may offer you a settlement. We highly recommend you speak to an experienced semi truck accident lawyer before you decide whether to accept the offer. Consultations are free.
Don't Talk to the Insurance or Trucking Companies after
Your Wisconsin Semi Truck Accident
As you probably know by now, the trucking company’s claims adjuster began to protect the trucking company’s interests immediately after your Wisconsin accident. The investigator assigned to the case has already started to collect evidence to defend or reduce the amount of the claim. In addition, the trucking company may attempt to steer you away from legal counsel, because trucking companies know that if you have a personal injury semi truck attorney, you are more likely to receive a larger settlement. We highly recommend that you do not discuss your commercial truck accident with anyone unless you have attorney representation, as anything you say may be used against you later.

Our law firm is a national semi accident law firm for personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits. When we handle out-of-state cases in state or federal court, we retain the services of local counsel, who then move to have us admitted pro hac vice, meaning "for this particular occasion."
