BOYD BROTHERS TRANSPORTATION:
18 WHEELER ACCIDENT LAWYER AND ATTORNEY

Boyd Bros.Transportation is a trucking company based out of Clayton, Alabama that serves most of the U.S. and Mexico.   They have over one thousand tractors and large flatbed trailers.

Boyd Brothers trucks have been involved in accidents resulting in injury and death.  In one case, a Boyd Brothers truck forced a car off of the road.  The driver was killed and his wife was injured.  The injured wife settled her claims, and the children sued Boyd Brothers for wrongful death.1

18 Wheeler AccidentBoyd Brothers Transportation was mentioned in a story in the New York Times from the December 3, 2006 issue.2  In the article, a former driver for Boyd Bros., Timothy Unrine, explained that new employees at the company were taught how to mask their driving time.  This allows truckers to drive longer hours, which can lead to driver fatigue and increased accidents.  Concealing driving hours is illegal under federal law and a dangerous practice that should not be taught or condoned by trucking companies.

The Hours-of-Service regulations (49 CFR Part 395) put limits in place for when and how long commercial motor vehicle drivers (Boyd Brothers drivers would fall into this category) may drive. These regulations are based on an exhaustive scientific review and are designed to ensure truck drivers get the necessary rest to perform safe operations. Currently the rules are that drivers are limited to driving only 11 hours within a 14-hour duty period, after which they must go off duty for at least 10 hours. By law, these hours are supposed to be recorded in a driver's log. Learn more about truck accident law.

When a driver "loses" his log book after an accident, fails to record hours or lies about the hours of sleep he or she has had, anyone injured by the driver (or the family of someone killed) may have grounds for a punitive damages claim.
