What is Traumatic Brain Injury?
The basic definition of traumatic brain injury (TBI) is any type of trauma to the brain caused by force. Approximately 20% of all traumatic brain injuries in the United States are the result of motor vehicle accidents. That is the type of traumatic brain injury that our law firm is most often dealing with.
One of the biggest things in dealing with traumatic brain injury cases is the lawyer and client need to be patient. Traumatic brain injury cases take longer than other cases because the effects of the traumatic brain injury sometimes only manifest themselves over time.
The problems associated with traumatic brain injury vary significantly. There can be any of the following:
- physical effects
- cognitive effects
- emotional effects
- behavioral effects
All of those things need to be looked at. One of the things that we can bring to the table in dealing with traumatic brain injury cases is an understanding of all of the different ways traumatic brain injury can affect people.
We understand how families can be devastated by having a loved one with a traumatic brain injury, the behavioral changes that go along with that, the way familiy dynamics change. We have dealt with that before, and we know what to look for in traumatic brain injury cases.

Brain Injuries and Motor Vehicle Accidents
One of the major causes of traumatic brain injury (TBI) is motor vehicle accidents. Even a "minor" accident may result in brain injuries. We guide our clients through the process of determining the extent of the brain injuries, and we work to obtain just compensation for those injuries and the related pain and suffering.
Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries Related to Electrical Accidents
Another major cause of brain injuries is electrical accidents. Brain injuries from electrical accidents can occur as a direct result of an electric shock, from a fall after an electric shock, or from cerebral anoxia due to related respiratory problems.
