Toyota Sequoia SUV and Tundra Truck Recall

January 22, 2007 – Toyota is recalling 533,124 Sequoia SUVs and Tundra trucks (model years 2004-07) because of a steering defect.  According to Toyota, there have been 11 reported accidents and 6 injuries as a result of the steering defect.

Pritzker | Olsen, P.A. , a premier car accident and product liability law firm has recovered millions for accident victims, including a recent settlement for $3,750,000.  If you or a family member has been injured in an accident involving a recalled Toyota Sequoia SUV or Tundra truck, contact a lawyer at Pritzker | Olsen, P.A. for a free consultation.  Please call toll-free at 1-888-377-8900 or submit the firm's online-consultation form for review by a lawyer.

Toyota Sequoia SUV and Tundra Truck Recall: Steering Defect
The recalled Toyota Sequoia SUV and Tundra truck models may have an improperly finished front suspension lower ball joint.  As a result, the internal lubrication in the ball joints may deteriorate.  This may cause the ball joint to wear and loosen prematurely, which could result in increased steering effort, reduced vehicle self-centering, and noise in the front suspension.  An increase in steering effort could cause an accident.

If the vehicle is continuously operated in this condition, the lower ball joint may separate from the knuckle and could cause a loss of the ability to steer the vehicle, which could cause an accident.

Toyota has not disclosed when the first accident involving the recalled Toyota Sequoia SUV and Tundra truck models was reported.  There may be instances where the defective steering caused an accident which was not reported.  If a lawyer with product liability experience is not hired after a car accident, defects can go unnoticed.
