URGENT WARNING REGARDING HIGH LEVELS OF SELENIUM AND CHROMIUM IN CERTAIN TOTAL BODY FORMULA PRODUCTS: The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that at least 201 people have had confirmed cases of adverse reactions associated with certain “Total Body Formula” and “Total Body Mega Formula” products.  The adverse reactions involved people in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Consumers were first cautioned March 27, 2008 not to purchase and to discontinue the use of "Total Body Formula" in Tropical Orange and Peach Nectar flavors and "Total Body Mega Formula" in the Orange/Tangerine flavor after receiving reports of adverse reactions.

On April 9, 2008, the FDA reported the dietary supplement products contained hazardous amounts of selenium in samples of "Total Body Formula" in Tropical Orange and Peach Nectar flavors and "Total Body Mega Formula" in the Orange/Tangerine flavor. Read about the Total Body Formula recall and a possible lawsuit.

FDA has now found high levels of chromium in certain Total Body Formula products. The samples contained up to 3,426 micrograms of chromium for the recommended serving (17 times the recommended intake). The recommended chromium intake for an adult ranges from 35 to 45 micrograms per day.

Excessive consumption of chromium (chromium poisoning) can cause fatigue, muscle cramps, hyperactivity, hypoglycemia, renal failure and liver toxicity. Excessive chromium intake also can interfere with certain medications.

The FDA continues to investigate how excessive amounts of selenium and chromium got into the products.

Our law firm is monitoring this recall and the continued investigation.  To contact a lawyer at our law firm regarding the Total Body Formula and Total Body Mega Formula products, please call 1-888-377-8900 (toll-free), e-mail our experienced lawyers or submit our free case consultation form.

Remembering SmellAfter only one use of a Zicam Cold Remedy product, Bonnie Blodgett lost her sense of smell. A gradening writer and foodie, her life was drastically changed. She recently published Remembering Smell: A Memoir of Losing--and Discovering--the Primal Sense in which she chronicals her experience with losing her sense of smell and then slowly getting it back again.

Bonnie's experience with Zicam is similar to many of our other clients. They experienced a burning sensation during the first use of a Zicam product and then lost their sense of smell (anosmia). Most of them were not as fortunate as Bonnie and have not regained their sense of smell.
