USF Holland Accident and Lawsuit Information

In the two years prior to August 4, 2010, USF Holland, Inc. was involved in 214 accidents, 74 resulting in injury and 5 resulting in fatalities, according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).1

Examples of USF Holland semi-truck accident lawsuits include the following:

  • In Minnesota, a USF Holland truck was involved in a collision with a car at an intersection with disabled traffic lights. The driver of the car treated the intersection as a four-way stop because of the disabled traffic lights. When, after waiting his turn, he proceeded into the intersection. The USF Holland semi-truck allegedly struck the car at a speed of 55 mph. The driver of the car suffered injuries, including a diagnosis of traumatic brain injury (TBI).  Expert witnesses (neurologists) testified that the driver of the car continued to suffer from frontal lobe injury, exhibited by clear deficits in attention, concentration, processing speed, learning memory and executive functioning (Foust, et. al v. McFarland, et. al).2
  • In Indiana, a woman suffered a spinal cord injury and was paralyzed in a collision with a USF Holland truck. The crash caused the woman to lose her ability to walk and control her bowel and bladder functions, according to court documents. The documents state she suffers chronic pain and depression, and will require assistance from others for the rest of her life.  In addition, the court documents claim the USF Holland truck accident caused the woman to suffer the permanent loss of a normal life, constant and intractable physical pain, emotional suffering and disfigurement.3
  • In Illinois, two people died when a USF Holland truck rear ended a car, causing the car to spin.  The USF Holland truck's rear trailer tires ran over the car. The driver and a passenger suffered fatal injuries.  The driver’s parents, individually and on behalf of his estate, sued the USF Holland under the states wrongful death statutes (Davila v. USF Holland, Inc.).4
