  • National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
    The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is a Division of the U.S. Department of Transportation. It does safety testing, has some regulatory authority, provides information on traffic safety, and manages vehicle recalls, including tractor-trailer/truck recalls.
  • Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)
    The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) was established as a separate administration within the U.S. Department of Transportation on January 1, 2000, pursuant to the Motor Carrier Safety Improvement Act of 1999. Its primary mission is to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities involving large trucks and buses.
  • Share the Road Safely
    This is the website for the Share the Road Safely program, which is administered by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), a division of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). The Share the Road Safely program strives to improve the knowledge of all highway users to minimize the likelihood of a crash with a large truck, and reduce the consequences of those that do occur. The goal of FMCSA is to reduce commercial motor vehicle crash fatalities on the Nation's highways to 1.65 fatalities per 100 million miles of truck travel by 2008.
  • National Safety Council (NSC)
    The National Safety Council is a nonprofit organization dedicated to traffic safety education.  There is some safety information available to the public on the NSC website, and members have access to the organization’s vast resources.
  • U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT)
    The U.S. Department of Transportation oversees the U.S. transportation system.  It is made up of a number of organizations dedicated to specific areas of transportation.
