Roadway Express Lawsuit and Truck Accident Information

Roadway Express is a leading transporter of commercial and retail goods in North America.  In the two years prior to November 2008, Roadway Express trucks were involved in over 500 accidents, with over 170 resulting in injuries and almost 20 with fatalities, according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)1.

Examples of Roadway Express accidents include the following:

  • In January of 2008, a woman in Indiana was killed when her car was struck by a semi-truck driven by a Roadway Express driver.  According to the police report, the driver lost control of the semi-truck that was pulling tandem trailers.  The initial investigation showed that speed and poor road conditions were primary factors in the death2.
  • On January 3, 2005, in Indiana, a car was struck by a Roadway Express truck merging into a construction zone, resulting in a multi-vehicle accident and the death of one of the passengers (Erb v. Roadway Express, Inc.)3.
  • In Vermont, a Roadway Express tractor trailer truck was intentionally driven on the wrong side of the road because the truck would not clear an overpass on the right side of the road.  The Roadway Express tractor trailer hit a motorcycle head-on, injuring the driver of the motorcycle and killing the passenger of the motorcycle (Brown v. Roadway Express, Inc.)4.
