Moving Truck AccidentAtlas Van Lines is the largest subsidiary of Atlas World group and operates out of over 500 agencies in the United States and Canada.

In the two years prior to December 29, 2008, Atlas Van Lines trucks have been involved in 102 accidents, with 33 resulting in injury, and 4 resulting in fatalities, according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).1

Examples of Atlas Van Lines accidents include the following:

  • Atlas Van Lines Flips over and Crushes Car. On July 7, 2008, in Athens Georgia, an Atlas Van Lines truck crushed a car as it flipped on its side after a collision with an SUV near an intersection. The Atlas driver received a citation for failing to maintain lane and for improper brakes. The driver of the crushed car was hospitalized.2
  • Atlas Van Lines Semi Truck Involves 30 Vehicles. On January 16, 2007, in North Bend Washington, an Atlas Van Lines driver was cited for negligent driving due to his involvement in a 30 vehicle pile up during an ice storm. The Atlas Van Lines semi-truck driver had been cited 18 times in the past, including one DUI and five citations for driving on a suspended license, according to the state patrol. He was driving an Atlas Van Lines tractor-trailer. The pileup started when the Atlas Van Lines semi truck jackknifed on an interstate.  The semi sideswiped the patrol car of a trooper on the scene of an earlier rollover accident. Moments later, the jack-knifed semi was hit by a flatbed truck towing a trailer. The collision totaled that vehicle and started a chain reaction in which vehicles traveling westbound were unable to stop in time because of ice and snow, and crashed into other vehicles blocking the freeway.3
  • Atlas Van Lines Truck Crash-Victim Dies in a Car Fire. On November 24, 2003, in San Mateo, California, an Atlas Van Lines truck struck a car driving westbound on a bridge. The driver of the car was not reached until after the resulting fire had been extinguished and was not identified until days later.4
