Werner Truck Accident Information

In the two years prior to December 3, 2008, Werner Enterprises, Inc. has been involved in 1,544 accidents, with 512 resulting in injury and 34 resulting in fatalities, according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).1

In Alabama, a Werner Enterprises truck was involved in a collision with a car in an intersection after allegedly running a red light. The Werner truck struck the car in the driver’s side door and pushed it across the intersection as it rolled. The driver was rendered unconscious by the impact.  The driver was extracted from his vehicle with the “Jaws of Life” and transported to the hospital.  Two days later the driver suffered severe swelling of the brain and died.  The driver’s family sued Werner Enterprises, Inc. under Alabama’s wrongful death statute (Moon v. Werner Enterprises, Inc.).2
  • Werner truck driver allegedly sent computer message seconds before accident. In Pennsylvania, a Werner truck rear-ended a car that then crashed into another car.  The drivers of both cars burned to death.  An official investigation found the Werner truck driver was not to blame for the accident; however, an independent investigation of the accident allegedly found that the driver had been sending a message over his onboard messaging system just seconds before the accident.3  This Werner truck accident underscores the importance of independent investigations.  Our law firm always hires experts to independently investigate truck accidents.
