Trucking Accident Information

Examples of trucking accidents include the following:

  • Trucking accident allegedly results in traumatic brain Injury and death. In Alabama, a Werner Enterprises truck was involved in a collision with a car in an intersection after allegedly running a red light. The Werner truck struck the car in the driver’s side door and pushed it across the intersection as it rolled. The driver was rendered unconscious by the impact.  The driver was extracted from his vehicle with the “Jaws of Life” and transported to the hospital.  Two days later the driver suffered severe swelling of the brain and died.  The driver’s family sued the trucking company, Werner Enterprises, Inc., under Alabama’s wrongful death statute (Moon v. Werner Enterprises, Inc.).1
  • Trucking accident settlement. A couple was seriously injured when a tanker truck hit their car. Both husband and wife live with disabling injuries, including a paralyzed arm and back injuries. The trucking company, Petroleum Transports, settled with them for several million dollars.2
  • Trucking accident kills pedestrian. In Virginia, a man died after a Penske delivery truck backed over him.  The Penske truck had a device that was supposed to make a beeping noise when the truck backed up, but according to authorities, the device was working properly at the time of the accident. Penske has been accused of negligent failure to inspect and maintain the vehicle.3
  • Trucking accident results in spinal cord injury and paralysis. In Indiana, a woman suffered a spinal cord injury and was paralyzed in a collision with a USF Holland truck. The trucking accident crash caused the woman to lose her ability to walk and control her bowel and bladder functions, according to court documents. The documents state she suffers chronic pain and depression, and will require assistance from others for the rest of her life.  In addition, the court documents claim the USF Holland trucking accident caused the woman to suffer the permanent loss of a normal life, constant and intractable physical pain, emotional suffering and disfigurement.4

Trucking Company Accident Settlement

If you have been in an accident involving a commercial truck, you will be contacted by both the trucking company and the trucking company’s insurance company.  When you are, you should not talk to them, not even polite conversation.  The trucking company representatives and insurance company claim adjusters are looking for information they can use to limit your recovery for the accident.
