South Carolina Tractor-Trailer Tire Deaths

In October of 2008, a tractor-trailer tire broke off of a semi truck, flew across the median of South Carolina I-20 and landed on the roof of Perry and Patricia Miller’s Honda Accord.  According to highway officials, the impact sent the car off of the road and into an embankment.  Both Perry Miller (44) and Patricia Miller (45) died.  According to official reports, the Millers died from head injuries.  

According to highway officials, the semi truck was traveling westbound when its rear tires broke off.

  • Over-tightening
