Semi Accident Information

After a semi accident, insurance companies and trucking companies immediately contact the people injured in the accident and their families. If someone died, the insurance companies and trucking companies contact the family of the deceased. The goal of the insurance companies and the trucking companies is to limit their liability, i.e., they want to pay the victims and their families as little as possible. When injuries are involved, the family can feel hounded by the insurance claim adjusters and trucking company representatives.

If you have been in a semi accident, it is critical that you not talk to these insurance company and trucking company representatives. You have to report the accident to your insurance company, but even then, you should not say more than necessary.

Examples of Semi Accidents

  • Semi accident wrongful death lawsuit. A Yellow Freight semi collided with a car killing the driver and injuring her son. The family was awarded compensation for medical and funeral expenses, grief, and to establish an annuity for the child.1
  • Fatal semi accident results in death of mother and daughter suffering permanent brain damage. A semi truck driven by a Schneider National Carriers driver allegedly failed to make a u-turn and ended up blocking the highway. A car collided with the semi truck, killing the driver instantly and injuring her daughter, who sustained head injuries resulting in permanent brain damage.2
  • Semi accident results in head injury. A J.B. Hunt truck rear-ended a car, causing a multi-vehicle accident. One passenger suffered a head injury.3
  • Semi accident results in spinal injury. A woman suffered a spinal cord injury and was paralyzed in a collision with a USF Holland truck. The crash caused the woman to lose her ability to walk and control her bowel and bladder functions, according to court documents. The court documents claim the semi accident caused the woman to suffer the permanent loss of a normal life, constant and intractable physical pain, emotional suffering and disfigurement.4
  • Semi crash kills two men and seriously injures another. Two men were killed and another injured when a semi-trailer truck crashed into a line of cars.  An Illinois jury awarded nearly $24 million to the families of two men killed and to the injured man.  The defendant in the case was C.G. Robinson Worldwide, a Minnesota freight broder that had contracted with the truck driver, De An Henry of Utah.5
