Listeria Alert: Raw Milk
The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets has warned consumers in the Allegany County area not to consume raw milk from the Gerald E. Snyder Farm due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a potentially-fatal foodborne pathogen. Learn more about the New York Listeria alert regarding raw milk.
Listeria Alert: Compare Foods in Providence, Rhode Island
Consumers are advised to discard all food items prepared at Compare Foods, 863 Broad St., Providence, Rhode Island. This includes prepared foods such as sandwiches, deli sliced meats and cheeses, and prepared salads such as tuna, macaroni, seafood, turkey, ham and cheese, potato, and cole slaw. These foods should be discarded because there is the potential that they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria Recall: Jamba Juice Strawberry Smoothie
December 04, 2006 -- Jamba Juice of San Francisco, CA in consultation with the FDA is notifying the public that smoothies containing strawberries which were sold at its Jamba Juice stores in Arizona, Southern Nevada and Southern California between November 25 - December 1, 2006, may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria Recall: Krisp-Pak Fresh-Cut Fruit
November 27, 2006 - The FDA has announced the recall of Krisp-Pak brand fresh fruit due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a life-threatening, foodborne pathogen. This is the second recall of Krisp-Pak fruit this month. Read more about the recall of Krisp-Pak fresh-cut fruit.
Arizona Cantaloupe Recall
Rio Vista, Ltd., of Rio Rico, Arizona, is voluntarily recalling its Llano and Nature's Partner brand cantaloupes, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Learn more about the recall of Arizona Cantaloupe due to Salmonella risk.
Salmonella Recall: Sundia Cantaloupe

Salmonella Recall: REESE'S Shell Topping
November 15, 2006 – The Hershey Company announced that it is recalling 7 (seven), 7.25-ounce bottles of REESE'S Shell Topping manufactured in Canada on October 27, 2006, and sold in Michigan after November 5, 2006. November 1, 2006 – Boston Salads is conducting a voluntary recall of Cole Slaw Salad sold in the retail deli section in 5 lb, 10 lb, 30 lb bulk and 1 lb retail containers with sell by date of November 9 and or November 11, 2006, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria Recall: Krisp-Pak Fresh Fruit Krisp-Pak Company, Inc. of Norfolk, Virginia (VA), is recalling all lots of Krisp-Pak Brand packaged, fresh-cut fruit with expiration dates on or before 11/09/06, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria Recall: Ballard's Farm Slaw and Salad
Ballard's Farm Sausage, Inc. announces an extension of its voluntary recall involving all lots of Ballard's Farm 24 oz. Amish Macaroni salad, Ballard's Farm 24 oz. Amish Sweet Slaw, Ballard's Farm 12 oz. Cole Slaw, and Food City 12 oz. Cole Slaw because of possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. E. coli Recall: Ground Beef Distributed in Connecticut and New York
Omaha Beef Company, Inc., a Danbury, Connecticut, firm, is voluntarily recalling approximately 1,680 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. Listeria Recall: Ballard's Farm Egg Salad
On October 16, 2006, the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services announced a recall of Ballard's Farm Egg Salad due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a potentially fatal foodborne pathogen. The product is sold at Wal-Mart and other food retailers in North Carolina. It also has been distributed to Ohio, Indiana, Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Listeria Recall: Ohio Pork Products
Herman Falter Packing Co., a Columbus, Ohio, firm, is voluntarily recalling approximately 1,178 pounds of various pork products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The pork products were produced on September 13, 18 or 19, 2006, and were distributed to retail and wholesale establishments in the Columbus, Ohio, region. E. coli Recall: Foxy Lettuce from California
On October 8, 2006, Nunes Company of Salinas Valley, California, recalled green-leaf lettuce distributed under the Foxy brand because tests revealed E. coli contamination of a water reservoir that had been used to irrigate the lettuce plants. Listeria Recall: Portillo's Roast Beef in Chigago
Portillo's Food Service, Inc. is voluntarily recalling 3,703 pounds of sliced roast beef that may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The fully-cooked, sliced roast beef was produced on Sept. 27 by Portillo’s Food Service, Inc. and distributed to select Portillo’s restaurant outlets in the greater Chicagoland area. E. coli Recall: Iowa Ground Beef
On October 6, 2006, Jim’s Market and Locker, Inc. a Harlan, Iowa, firm, voluntarily recalled approximately 5,226 pounds of ground beef that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. Learn more about the recall of Iowa ground beef due to E. coli risk.
Turkey Sandwich Recall
On October 4, 2006, the FDA announced the recall of 1360 Tuscan Sun Turkey Sandwiches made by Jumbo Foods, Inc. of Mukilteo, Washington. The sandwiches may be contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. E. coli Recall: Spinach Salads and Pizza Containing Spinach
Pacific Coast Fruit Company of Portland, Oregon, is recalling products that may include spinach supplied by Natural Selections Foods a California grower and processor. The products involved in the recall are Chef on the Run salads, Trader Joe's salads and My Brothers Pizza (garlic and spinach). E. coli Recall: S.T. Produce Salads Containing Spinach
The Food and Drug Administration announced that Triple B Corporation dba S.T. Produce, Seattle, Washington. is initiating a northwest-states voluntary recall of certain salad products that may contain spinach with a Use by Date of 08/22/2006 thru 09/20/2006. Recall of Spinach Due to Possible Contamination with E. coli O157:H7
The latest FDA update of the E. coli O157:H7 outbreak in spinach includes information on the additional recall of River Ranch brands: Farmers Market, Hy Vee and Fresh and Easy. Spinach distributed by Natural Selection Foods, LLC, of San Juan Bautista, California, has also been recalled. The brands include: Natural Selection Foods, Pride of San Juan, Earthbound Farm, Bellissima, Dole, Rave Spinach, Emeril, Sysco, O Organic, Fresh Point, River Ranch, Superior, Nature's Basket, Pro-Mark, Compliments, Trader Joe's, Ready Pac, Jansal Valley, Cheney Brothers, Coastline, D'Arrigo Brothers, Green Harvest, Mann, Mills Family Farm, Premium Fresh, Snoboy, The Farmer's Market, Tanimura & Antle, President's Choice, Cross Valley, and Riverside Farms. Listeria Recall: Monterey Mushrooms Fresh, Sliced White and Baby Bella Mushrooms
The FDA has announced the recall of Monterey Mushrooms fresh, sliced white and baby bella mushrooms sold in Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Virginia. The mushrooms may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a dangerous foodborne pathogen that can cause serious injury and death. E. coli Recall: Dinner Bell Beef Distributed in Virginia
On August 18, 2006, the USDA-FSIS announced the recall of Dinner Bell beef distributed in Virginia because it may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. Fullei Fresh Alfalfa Sprouts Recall
On August 10, 2006, the FDA announced the recall of alfalfa sprouts because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. The recalled alfalfa sprouts were grown and packaged by Fullei Fresh of Miami, Florida. The recalled alfalfa sprouts were distributed throughout the state of Florida in food service establishments. Listeria Recall: Krab Supreme Dip and Supreme Krab Dip
On August 11, 2006, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall of Krab Supreme Dip and Supreme Krab Dip, sold under the brand names of Salads of the Sea, Hen House and Fisherman’s Market, because of possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. E. coli O157:H7 Recall: Southeastern Meats Ground Beef

E. coli Recall: Plains Meat Ground Beef Sold in Texas

Salmonella Recall: Baby Spinach and Mesclun (Lettuce)
July 31, 2006–Classic Salads of Salinas, CA is voluntarily recalling 4lb., 2lb. and 10 oz. Baby Spinach and 4lb., 3lb., 1.5lb., Spring (Mesclun) Mix, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Baby Spinach/Spring Mix was distributed nationwide, as well as Canada and Japan, to foodservice, institutions and distributors. Regulation Needed to Prevent E. coli
In the last month, the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS) announced two (2) separate recalls of ground beef. In both cases, possible E. coli O157:H7 contamination was discovered through routine FSIS microbiological testing. On July 25, 2006, the USDA-FSIS announced a recall of Orientex Manila Style Hot Dogs due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. Possible E. coli contamination in Ground Beef
On July 17, 2006, the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced the recall of ground beef processed and sold in Maryland. George G. Ruppersberger & Sons, Inc., a Baltimore, Maryland., firm, is voluntarily recalling approximately 315 pounds of ground beef that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. Mrs. Gerry's Salad Recall Due to Food Poisoning Risk
On May 22, 2006, Mrs. Gerry's Kitchen, Inc. of Albert Lea, Minnesota, voluntarily recalled approximately 54,000 pounds of salads because they have the potential to be contaminated with harmful bacteria. Salad and Dip Recall Due to Food Poisoning Risk
On May 19, 2006, House of Thaller, Inc. of Knoxville, Tennessee recalled approximately 160,000 pounds of ham salad, chicken salad, turkey salad, tuna salad, seafood salad, seafood salad mix, pea salad mix, shrimp salad, artichoke shrimp dip, crab dip, Cajun crab dip because it has the potential to be contaminated with harmful bacteria. The recalled salads and dips have been sold under the following brands: House of Thaller, Kroger Brand, Mrs. Gerry's, Dairy Fresh, The Fresh Market, Southern Gourmet, and Southern Style. Recall of Cut Cahill's Farm Porter Cheese Due to Listeria Risk
On May 18, 2006, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall by Swiss-American, Inc., of St. Louis, Missouri, of Cut Cahill’s Farm Porter Cheese because Listeria monocytogenes, a rare but often fatal foodborne pathogen, was discovered in a sample of the product. On May 5, 2006, the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced a recall of about 156, 235 pounds of ground beef products that were sold to restaurants and institutions in Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. Listeria Recall: Norwegian and Scottish Salmon
On April 24, 2006, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall of Norwegian and Scottish salmon because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a potentially fatal foodborne illness. Moveable Feast, Inc. of Moonachie, New Jersey, recalled the salmon when routine sampling program by the company which revealed that a sample of the finished product contained the bacteria. Listeria Recall: Jimmy Dean and State Fair Cheeseburgers
In the April 19, 2006, edition of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Enforcement Report, the FDA re-announced a December 2005 recall of State Fair Cheeseburgers and Jimmy Dean Cheeseburgers. The recall was initiated because the cheese burgers were assembled with sliced American processed cheese that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria Recall: Ham Salad
On April 5, 2006, the U. S. Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) in cooperation with Town and Country Meats of Greene, Maine, announced a voluntary recall of 92 pounds of ham salad that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Salmonella Recall: Frozen Chicken Breast Entrees
On March 10, 2006, the Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall of over 75,000 pounds of frozen, stuffed chicken entrees that may be contaminated with Salmonella. Illnesses have been linked to this product. Learn more about Salmonella and frozen chicken breast entrees.
Listeria Recall: Egg Salad Sandwich from Pilot Travel Centers
On March 7, 2006, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) posted a recall of egg salad sandwiches that may have been sold at Pilot Travel Centers. Classic Delight, Inc. voluntarily recalled the egg sandwiches after the FDA notified the company that a random sample from the recalled lot tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. Griffin's Barbeque of Williamston, Inc., a Williamston, North Carolina, firm, voluntarily recalled 30 pounds of pork barbeque after the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) discovered the pork barbeque could have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
