Tennessee E. coli

HUS E. coli LawsuitFred Pritzker and his team of E. coli attorneys have successfully represented victims of E. coli outbreaks linked to ground beef, produce, water, petting zoos and other sources (in one case, a goat illegally slaughtered in a restaurant).  They have also won millions for E. coli victims who developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) and/or thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP).  Our law firm handles both E. coli O157:H7 cases and non-O157 cases (O26, O45, O103, O111, O121, O145).

Tennessee E. coli Outbreaks 2011

The Tennessee Department of Health is investigating what appears to be two E. coli outbreaks, one involving a virulent strain of E. coli O157. Health officials believe one of the outbreaks was caused by ground beef and the other by swimming in contaminated water.

To date, eleven E. coli cases have been confirmed and officials are awaiting lab results on three others. One child was hospitalized.

Tennessee E. coli Outbreak in 2007 Linked to
Ground Beef (Hamburger)

Three children in Tennessee have been sickened by Cargill hamburger patties sold at Sam's Club. The strain of E. coli O157:H7 involved in these Tennessee E. coli O157:H7 cases matches the E. coli O157:H7 that has sickened people in Minnesota, North Carolina and Wisconsin.  All of the sickened people in those states also had eaten Cargill hamburgers sold at Sam's Club before becoming ill.  In addition to this epidemiological evidence, the E. coli involved in each case has the same DNA fingerprint.  This evidence would be used to support a Sam's Club/ Cargill lawsuit

In response to this E. coli outbreak, Cargill Meat Solutions Corporation recalled approximately 845,000 pounds of frozen hamburger patties.  The frozen ground beef patties were produced on various dates from Aug. 9 through Aug. 17, 2007, and were distributed to retail establishments, restaurants and institutions nationwide.

Each label on the recalled Cargill hamburgers bears the establishment number "Est. 924A" inside the USDA mark of inspection.  The recalled Cargill hamburgers should not be eaten.

We would also like to alert consumers to an unrelated recall of frozen hamburgers sold at Sam's Club.  The J & B Meats Corporation Inc. has recalled approximately 173,554 pounds of frozen ground beef products, also due to possible contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.  The brands these recalled hamburgers were sold under is Topps and Sam's Choice.  Read more about the Topps/ Sam's Choice recall.
