South Dakota Boy Fighting for Life in Minneapolis Hospital
Lawyer for South Dakota Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome and
E. coli Food Poisoning

A four-year-old from Brandon, South Dakota is in a Minneapolis Hospital fighting for his life.  He has developed hemolytic uremic syndrome, probably from an E. coli O157:H7 infection.  South Dakota health officials are investigating this illness along with others that may be part of an E. coli O157:H7 outbreak.  CDC defines an E. coli outbreak as one in which E. coli isolates from two or more people have matching genetic fingerprints (PFGE patterns).

We are monitoring this situation, and will update this page when we get new information.

Although the name of this child is in the news, we are withholding it here out of respect for the family.

For those who have been sickened or whose children have been sickened, we understand the pain and suffering and emotional distress involved.  Attorney Fred Pritzker, managing partner for our hemolytic uremic syndrome and E. coli litigation cases, recently spent two days in a Georgia intensive care unit with the family of a woman who developed hemolytic uremic syndrome from an E. coli infection.  He flew down to Georgia to be with the family at the firm’s expense.

Our Minneapolis law firm is one of the few in the nation that focuses on hemolytic uremic syndrome and E. coli litigation.  We represent people with hemolytic uremic syndrome throughout the United States.  If you would like a free consultation, contact our law firm:

Minnesota Lawyer, a legal publication, recently wrote an article about our law firm and attorney Fred Pritzker.  The following is a quote from Minnesota Lawyer:

As a result of the firm’s success in similar cases (‘We’ve never had a case that didn’t successfully resolve, either at trial or by settlement,’ Pritzker claimed), it has become recognized nationally as one of the leading firms in the area of foodborne illness cases, and the only one locally that devotes such a large share of its practices to those cases (Minnesota Lawyer, July 28, 2008). Read the full article, "A Full Plate".

Minnesota Law & Politics, a legal magazine, recently had this to say about Fred Pritzker:
Since 1995, when his firm, Pritzker | Olsen, P.A. & Associates, first started handling these [foodborne illness] cases, Pritzker has become one of the country’s leading foodborne illness litigators and a self-taught expert on the bacteria and viruses that hide in food such as hamburgers, spinach salad and undercooked fish (Law & Politics, August/September 2008, No. 171).
