Van Occupants Injured in Semi Crash

An accident between a semi truck and a van in Pontiac has critically injured one man and seriously injured another on February 8, 2016. The crash happened at 9:10 am at Telegraph and Voorhies Roads in Pontiac near the border with Waterford.

The 52-year-old driver of the van, who lives in Waterford, is in guarded condition, and the passenger in the van, a 27-year-old man who lives in White Lake Township, is in critical condition. Botha re at McLaren Hospital in Oakland. The driver of the semi was not injured.

Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies state that the 2010 Chevrolet Express van was going east on Voorhies when the 2005 Freightliner tractor-trailer, going north on Telegraph, struck it broadside. Authorities are investigating the accident.

Most accidents between semi trucks and passenger vehicles result in injuries to those traveling in the passenger cars. There are probably many factors that led to this accident. They could include driver inattention, speeding, an inexperienced driver, or improper vehicle maintenance. While authorities are investigating, the truck company and its insurance carriers are investigating as well.
