3 Injured in Germantown, WI Fire Pit Explosion, 2 in Critical Condition

Two women were critically injured after a fire pit explosion in Germantown, WI just before 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24. An evening of socializing on the deck of a home on Kings Way took a tragic turn when someone tossed gasoline onto an open fire pit causing an explosion that badly burned the women.

One of the injured women tried to drive to the hospital taking the other injured woman with her,  but their car struck a street sign. The driver called 911.When firefighters arrived at the scene they found a 25-year-old woman with second and third-degree burns on 40 percent of her body including respiratory areas. She was transported to St. Mary’s Burn Center by Flight for Life. The other woman, whose age was not released, also suffered critical burns on 40 percent of her body. She was taken to St. Mary’s Burn Century ambulance. The third victim, a man who suffered burns on his chest and hand, was taken to the burn center by his wife.
