A fatal crash in Minnesota yesterday resulted in the tragic loss of a doctor from Watertown, South Dakota. He was driving a Chevy Silverado truck eastbound on Highway 212 when a Volvo semi tractor, traveling southbound on County Road 7, broadsided him, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
He served rural communities in both South Dakota and Minnesota.
The investigation of this crash is preliminary, and there are many questions that need to be answered:
- How long had the semi driver been on the road?
- Was alcohol and/or drugs involved?
- Was the he using a cell phone?
- Was he otherwise distracted?
- Did he attempt to stop?
- Does he have a record of traffic violations?
- Were the brakes operational?
This is a terrible tragedy for the family and they are entitled to answers to these and other questions.
