Can I Sue Zimmer for Knee Replacement Revision Surgery?

You may have a claim against Zimmer, Inc., a medical device company, if the following applies:

  1. You had knee replacement surgery that included implanting a Persona Trabecular Metal Tibial Plate (recalled in March of 2015);
  2. This product was not cemented during the operation;
  3. You are having pain and other symptoms of loosening, medical imaging has found evidence of lucency, or your knee implant failed and you had revision surgery (an operation to take out the failed device and put in a different one).

Our attorneys have significant experience in this area, recently winning $45 million for clients injured by another medical product manufactured by another company. They are now helping people like you with Zimmer Persona cases.

Zimmer Recall

In March of 2015, Zimmer issued a voluntary recall of all sizes of the Persona Trabecular Metal Tibial Plate, a medical device implanted during knee replacement surgery. This was done in response to an increase in complaints of loosening and radiolucent lines, according to the FDA recall announcement.

At that time, there were 11,658 of these in commerce, according to the announcement.  They were distributed to hospitals and surgical centers in the United States, including the states of Arkansas, Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.

These products were also distributed to Veterans’ Affairs (VA) hospitals in the following locations: Maine; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Augusta, Georgia; Birmingham, AL; West Roxbury, MA; Buffalo, NY; Dayton, OH; Indianapolis, IN; Lebanon and Wilkes Barre, PA; St. Louis, MO; San Diego, CA; and Reno, Nevada.

We are a national law firm (1-888-377-8900).

Patients who have to have revision surgery to remove a Zimmer Persona Trabecular Metal Tibial Plate should be compensated fully for their expenses, income losses, pain and suffering and other damages. Patients trust companies to sell safe products that will not prematurely fail.
