Listeriosis in Texas Linked to Cantaloupe
Eighteen people with listeriosis in Texas were sickened by Rocky Ford cantaloupe grown by Jensen Farms in Colorado. Two of them died
Those responsible for the contamination of the cantaloupe and the sale of the contaminated cantaloupe should be held accountable, and victims of this outbreak deserve compensation. Listeria victims and their families may have claims against Jensen Farms, Frontera (distributor), and a retailer or restaurant. Retailers may include Walmart, Whole Foods Market, Supervalue (retail network includes ACME®, ALBERTSONS®, CUB®, FARM FRESH®, HORNBACHER'S®, JEWEL-OSCO®, SHAW'S/STAR MARKET®, SHOP ‘N SAVE® and SHOPPERS®) or another store.
What is Listeriosis?
Listeriosis is the infection caused by consuming food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The disease affects primarily persons of advanced age, pregnant women, newborns, and adults with weakened immune systems. However, persons without these risk factors can also rarely be affected.
