HUS E. coli LawsuitShiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) O157:H7 is a well-recognized cause of bloody diarrhea, hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS) and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP). Non-O157 STEC (non-O157 E. coli) contribute to this burden of illness but have been underrecognized as a result of diagnostic limitations and inadequate surveillance. The six most common strains of non-O157 E. coli include E. coli O26, E. coli O45, E. coli O103, E. coli O111, E. coli O121 and E. coli O145.

  • E. coli O145 in MI, OH and NY. Our law firm is investigation an E. coli O145 outbreak that has sickened people in Michigan, Ohio and New York. Early in the investigation we learned that ground beef is not the food source of the outbreak.
  • E. coli O111 in Colorado. Three are sick with E. coli O111 and eight more could be part of the same outbreak at Four Mile prison in Canon City, Colorado, local news sources reported Saturday, April 24. The outbreak was discovered Thursday, according to news reports. The three sick inmates were treated at the prison’s infirmary. Read more about the Four Mile Prison E. coli outbreak in Colorado.
  • E. coli O111 in Oklahoma. We are representing a toddler sickened in an Oklahoma E. coli O111 outbreak that has been linked to the Country Cottage restaurant in Locust Grove, OK. This Oklahoma E. coli O111 outbreak had 341 confirmed cases of E. coli O111. One 26-year-old man died. Several children and adults developed hemolytic uremic syndrome and were on or were on dialysis: 9 children and 7 adults.
