E. coli Recall

Recalls of food products due to the potential risk of E. coli food poisoning are issued by the food manufacturer or the government. Generally, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or the Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS), an arm of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, issue press releases regarding the recalls. Rocky Mountain Natural Meats Bison Recall
An outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 in Colorado (5 people) and New York (1 person) has prompted a recall of Rocky Mountain Natural Meats bison products. Read about a Rocky Mountain Natural Meats lawsuit.

Great Range Bison E. coli Lawsuit
In response to an E. coli outbreak associated with Rocky Mountain Natural Meats, certain Great Range bison products were recalled, including Great Range ground bison and Great Range bison steaks.

Nature's Rancher Ground Buffalo E. coli Lawsuit
In response to an E. coli O157:H7 outbreak in Colorado and New York, Rocky Mountain Natural Meats recalled about 66,000 pounds of bison product on July 2, 2010, including Nature's Rancher Ground Buffalo.

Freshway Foods Lettuce Recall

E. coli O145 HUS cases at Roy C. Ketcham (RCK) High School,
John Jay High School, Wappingers Junior High School and Van Wyck Middle School

Students at four Wappingers Central School District schools have contracted E. coli O145 infections after consuming romain lettuce in the school cafeterias. The lettuce was supplied to the New York school district by Freshway Foods of Sidney, Ohio.

Attorney Fred Pritzker has been retained to represent an E. coli HUS victim who was sickened by romaine lettuce processed by Freshway Foods and served on campus. Our client is one of over 20 people sickened in the Freshway Foods lettuce E. coli outbreak in Michigan, Ohio, New York and Tennessee.

On May 6, 2010, Freshway Foods of Sidney, Ohio voluntarily recalled romaine lettuce products with a with a use by date of May 12 or earlier because they have the potential to be contaminated with Escherichia coli O145 bacteria (E. coli O145). Steak Recall

E. coli HUS from Steak Served at a Restaurant
Attorney Fred Pritzker has been retained by an 18 year-old woman from Ashtabula, Ohio who suffered E. coli O157:H7 poisoning and hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) linked to contaminated steak recalled by National Steak and Poultry, an Owasso, Oklahoma meat processor. The young woman was hospitalized for weeks and almost died. She was on dialysis for months and now suffers from decreased kidney function and hypertension.

In response to a steak E. coli outbreak, National Steak and Poultry, an Owasso, Oklahoma, establishment, recalled approximately 248,000 pounds of steak that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 on December 24, 2009. The recalled steaks were sold to restaurants nationwide, including Moe's, Carino's Italian Restaurant and KRM, the owner of 54th Street Grill and Bar. The E. coli outbreak has sickened 19 people in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, South Dakota and Washington. Fairbank Farms Ground Beef Recall

Fairbank Farms, an Ashville, New York firm, is recalling approximately 545,699 pounds of fresh ground beef products that has been associated with a multi-state E. coli O157:H7 outbreak. Read about a Fairbank Farms beef recall lawsuit.

South Shore Meat Company Beef Recall

On October 26, 2009, South Shore Meat Company in Brockton, Massachusetts has recalled about 1,039 pounds of fresh ground beef patties derived from bench trim as well as mechanically tenderized beef cuts based on confirmed laboratory evidence of the presence of E. coli O157:H7 in leftover ground beef samples obtained from Camp Bournedale, a nature camp in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Nestle Cookie Dough

An E. coli outbreak that has sickened at least 70 people in 30 states may have been caused by E. coli-contaminated Nestle Toll House cookie dough, according to the FDA, CDC and state health officials. JBS Swift Beef Company Recall

On June 28, 2009, JBS Swift Beef Company recalled 380,000 pounds of beef products due to possible contamination with E. coli O157:H7. This recall was prompted by an E. coli outbreak that has sickened at least 18 people. Read about the JBS Swift Beef recall and a JBS Swift Beef Company lawsuit.

Dutch Prime Hamburger Recall

Dutch Prime Foods, Inc., a Long Branch, New Jersey firm, has recalled approximately 345 pounds of hamburger because it may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on November 24, 2008. Vermont Ground Beef Recall

Vermont Livestock, Slaughter and Processing Co., LLC, a Ferrisburg, Vermont firm, has recalled approximately 2,758 pounds of ground beef products because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. Cub Foods Recall Due to Nebraska Beef, Ltd. Recall

Expanded Nebraska Beef, Ltd. Recall

HUS-TTP Lawsuit
Our lawyers filed suit against The Barbecue Pit, Inc. restaurant, Nebraska Beef, Ltd. and H & L Distributors on behalf of a woman who contracted an E. coli infection after eating contaminated ground beef later recalled by Nebraska Beef. She developed HUS-TTP and almost died.

Nebraska Beef, Ltd. has expanded its August 8, 2008 recall because FSIS has concluded that the production practices employed by Nebraska Beef, Ltd., on June 24 were insufficient to effectively control E. coli O157:H7. S & S Foods Recall

Renna's Meats Recall

Renna's Meat Market, a Fresno, Calif., firm is recalling approximately 780 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. Read more about the Renna's Meat Market recall.


Nebraska Beef Recall Linked to E. coli Cases in 12 States

State and federal health officials have linked 31 confirmed cases of E. coli O157:H7 to Nebraska Beef, Ltd. products sold under the Coleman brand. People in 12 states were sickened: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Idaho, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Nebraska Beef Recall and Georgia E. coli Outbreak Linked to the Barbecue Pit in Moultrie, Georgia

8 confirmed cases of E. coli and 4 cases of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) have been linked to ground beef served at the Barbecue Pit in Moultrie, Georgia. Amish Macaroni Salad Recall

Orval Kent Foods, an Illinois firm, has recalled about 23,000 pounds of Amish Macaroni Salad after the Ohio Department of Agriculture found E. coli in a single package. Read about the Amish Macaroni Salad recall.


Public Health Alert fo Tyson Ground Beef

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for approximately 808 pounds of Tyson Fresh Meats ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. Read about the Tyson ground beef public health alert.


JSM Meat Holdings Company Beef Recall

JSM Meat Holdings Company, Inc. has recalled an undetermined amount of beef products intended for use in ground products because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. Read about the JSM Meat Holdings Company Beef Recall.


E. coli Recall: Rochester Meat Recall - California and Wisconsin E. coli Outbreak

Rochester Meat Company has recalled about 188,000 pounds of ground beef due to possible contamination with E. coli O157:H7. At least 6 people have contracted E. coli O157:H7 infections associated with eating Rochester Meat Company ground beef served in restaurants and food service institutions in Wisconsin and California. E. coli Recall: Mark's Quality Meat Recall and Lawsuit Information

On January 5, 2008, the USDA-FSIS announced a recall of about 13,150 pounds of beef products (steak and ground beef products) that may be contamintated with E. coli O157:H7.  The beef products were voluntarily recalled by Mark’s Quality Meats, Inc., a Detroit, Michigan company after being distributed to Detroit restaurants. Snapps Ferry Ground Beef Recall

Snapps Ferry Packing has recalled approximately 102 pounds of hamburger patties and bulk ground beef that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. Learn more about the Snapps Ferry ground beef and hamburger patty recall.


E. coli Recall and Outbreak: American Foods Ground Beef Recall

American Foods Group has recalled approximately 95,927 pounds of various coarse and fine ground beef products due to possible contamination with E. coli O157:H7. The recalled ground beef was sent to retail outlets and distributors in Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Virginia. The Illinois Department of Health is investigating 2 cases of E. coli O157:H7 associated with the recalled American Foods ground beef. Jeno's and Totino's Pizza Recall

General Mills has recalled about 414,000 cases of Jeno's and Totino's Pizza because pepperoni on the pizzas may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. Learn more about the Jeno's and Totino's Pizza recall.


E. coli Recall: Cargill Hamburger Recall

Pritzker | Olsen, P.A. is investigating E. coli cases that may be connected with the Sam's Club hamburger recall.  The first identified victims of this outbreak were 4 Minnesota children. (Read about the Minnesota Sam's Club E. coli infections.)  5 people in Minnesota, 4 people in Wisconsin, 2 children in North Carolina, and 3 children in Tennessee have been linked to Sam's Club hamburgers processed by Cargill Meat Solutions Corporation.


E. coli Recall and Outbreak: Topps Hamburger Recall

Topps Meat Company has recalled approximately 21,700,000 pounds of hamburgers (expanded from 331,582 pounds) due to possible E. coli contamination. At least 40 confirmed cases of E. coli O157:H7 have been associated with Topps hamburgers. Blue Ribbon Meats Frozen Hamburgers Recall

Blue Ribbon Meats has recalled approximately 8,200 pounds of frozen hamburgers due to possible contamination with E. coli O157:H7.  The recalled frozen hamburgers were sent to sent to a distributor intended for a correctional institution in Florida and to a distributor intended for a subsequent distributor in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Shaws Ground Beef Recall

1.33-pound trays of “SHAW’S FRESH GROUND ROUND BEEF PATTIES, 85/15.” Each package bears the establishment number “Est. 492” inside the USDA mark of inspection. Each “Nutrition Facts” label bears a time stamp between “17:05” and “17:25” as well as a date code of “243.” 


E. coli Recall and Outbreak: Oregon & Washington Ground Beef Recall

August 30, 2007 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert for approximately 41,305 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, that were produced at Interstate Meat Dist., Inc., a Clackamas, Ore., establishment. Kroger Potato Salad Recall

August 31, 2007 -- Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) Director Robert Boggs in conjunction with The Kroger Co. today advises consumers not to consume Kroger brand Mustard or Southern-Style potato salad with a "Best If Used By" date of Sept. 5, 2007, because it may contain E. coli O157:H7.


E. coli Recall and Outbreak: Stew Leonard Hamburger Recall

The recall was prompted by 3 cases of E. coli O157:H7 associated with eating ground beef from the Stew Leonard's Yonkers store.  The three people sickened are from the same family. Read Stew Leonard's lawsuit and lawyer information.


Michigan Hamburger Recall

Abbott's Meat Inc. has recalled approximately 26,669 pounds of ground beef products because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.  The ground beef products were produced between July 12 and July 20, 2007 and were distributed to hotels, restaurants and institutions in Michigan. 


Colorado Albertsons Stores - E. coli Ground Beef Recall

PritzkerOlsen is currently investigating the E. coli outbreak associated with ground beef sold at Colorado Albertsons grocery stores.  This is part of a multi-state recall of ground beef issued by United Food Group LLC.  At least 2 people in Colorado have contracted E. coli O157:H7 infections in this outbreak.  Learn about a possible Albertsons lawsuit.


Supervalue Ground Beef: Save-A-Lot and Albertsons Recall Due to Possible E. coli Contamintation

Supervalue has recalled ground beef sold at Albertsons stores in California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming and at Save-A-Lot stores in Arizona, California and Nevada.  Supervalue issued this recall after its supplier, United Food Group LLC, recalled 75,000 pounds of ground beef (on June 6 this recall expanded to 370,000 pounds of ground beef) that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.  Learn more about the Supervalue ground beef recall.


E. coli Recall: California Beef Recall

The USDA-FISIS has announced a California beef recall.  United Food Group LLC, a California firm, has recalled 75,000 pounds of ground beef due to possible contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.  The recalled beef trim was shipped to shipped to retail distribution centers in Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon and Utah.  Learn more about the California beef recall.


Possible E. coli Outbreak Linked to Hamburgers

Pritzker | Olsen, P.A. is monitoring the possible E. coli outbreak linked to hamburgers served at the St. Helena and Calistoga Little League baseball snack shacks. E. coli Outbreak Linked to Hoss's Steak and Sea Restaurants and Recalled Beef

Pritzker | Olsen, P.A. is monitoring the possible E. coli outbreak linked to Hoss's Steak and Sea Restaurants in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.  Steaks, ground beef patties, and other cuts of meat used at Hoss's Steak and Sea Restaurants were recalled due to possible contamination with E. coli O157:H7.  Several people may have contracted E. coli infections after eating at these restaurants.  Learn more about a possible Hoss's Steak E. coli lawsuit.


Tyson Ground Beef (Hamburger) Recall

March 2, 2007 - Tyson Fresh Meats has voluntarily recalled approximately 16,743 pounds of ground beef that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.  Learn more about the Tyson ground beef recall.

E. coli Recall: Meacham Hamburger

January 29, 2007- The Natural State Meat Co., a Batesville, Ark., firm, is voluntarily recalling approximately 4,240 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.  The recalled meat is labeled as packaged by Meacham Packing Company.  Learn more about the recall of Meacham hamburger.


E. coli Recall: Ground Beef Distributed in Connecticut and New York

Omaha Beef Company, Inc., a Danbury, Connecticut, firm, is voluntarily recalling approximately 1,680 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.  The ground beef was sold to restaurants in Connecticut and New York.  Learn more about the recall of ground beef distributed to restaurants in Connecticut and New York.


E. coli Recall: Foxy Lettuce from California

On October 8, 2006, Nunes Company of Salinas Valley, California, recalled green-leaf lettuce distributed under the Foxy brand because tests revealed E. coli contamination of a water reservoir that had been used to irrigate the lettuce plants.  Learn more about the recall of Foxy Lettuce due to possible E. coli contamination.


E. coli Recall: Spinach Salads and Pizza Containing Spinach

Pacific Coast Fruit Company of Portland, Oregon, is recalling products that may include spinach supplied by Natural Selections Foods a California grower and processor. The products involved in the recall are Chef on the Run salads, Trader Joe's salads and My Brothers Pizza (garlic and spinach).  These products may be contaminated with Escherichia coli 0157:H7 bacteria and should not be eaten.   Learn more about the recall of spinach salads and pizza containing spinach.


E. coli Recall: S.T. Produce Salads Containing Spinach

The Food and Drug Administration announced that Triple B Corporation dba S.T. Produce, Seattle, Washington. is initiating a northwest-states voluntary recall of certain salad products that may contain spinach with a Use by Date of 08/22/2006 thru 09/20/2006.  Learn more about the recall of salads containing spinach.


Recall of Spinach Due to Possible Contamination with E. coli O157:H7

The latest FDA update of the E. coli O157:H7 outbreak in spinach includes information on the additional recall of River Ranch brands: Farmer's Market, Hy Vee and Fresh and Easy.  Spinach distributed by Natural Selection Foods, LLC, of San Juan Bautista, California, has also been recalled.  The Natural Selection Foods brands are listed in this and previous updates.  Read the FDA update of the E. coli recall and outbreak linked to spinach that has sickened over 100 people and killed at least one person.


E. coli Recall: Dinner Bell Beef Distributed in Virginia

Second E. coli Outbreak Hits Toledo, Ohio

May 25, 2006 – Toledo, Ohio has had two E. coli outbreaks in less than 9 months.  The most recent outbreak began in April. According to health officials, there are 8 confirmed cases of E. coli from the April 2006 E. coli outbreak.  One 5-year-old boy is hospitalized. E. coli Recall: Ground Beef Sold in Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri

E. coli Recall: Frozen Beef Patties

Nov. 1, 2005 - Quaker Maid Meats, Inc., a Reading, Penn., firm, is voluntarily recalling approximately 94,400 pounds of frozen ground beef patties that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. The patties were produced on July 19 and were shipped to retail stores in Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and Wisconsin. E. coli Recall: Dole Lettuce Salad

Sept. 23, 2005—Flanders Provision Co., Inc., a Waycross, Ga., establishment, voluntarily recalled approximately 184,000 pounds of frozen ground beef patties that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.
