Doberman Pinscher Dog Bite Attack
Doberman Pinschers are medium-sized dogs that are in the top 5 of dogs that bite. They are determined, bold and stubborn. When you add that they are muscular and strong with powerful jaws and a scissor bite, you have a recipe for disaster. A scissor bite is when the teeth are offset, ideal for tearing through flesh.
Dog attacks cause almost 20 deaths per year. Doberman Pinschers are listed in the top ten breeds most likely responsible for fatal human attacks, after pit bulls, Rottweilers and others. For more information on dog attacks, including dog bite prevention and treatment, go to the dog bite links page.
Doberman Pinscher Attack: Victim Compensation
When someone is bitten by a Doberman Pinscher, the dog’s owner (or person boarding the dog) is liable under law in many states, including Minnesota. This means that the owner must compensate (usually paid by homeowner's insurance) the person bitten for any of the following:
- Hospital bills and other medical expenses
- Lost income — money you lost because you were bitten or attacked by a dog
- Pain and suffering, which includes physical pain, emotional distress, disability, loss of quality of life, embarrassment and disfigurement. (Every dog bite case involves some disfigurement.)
In some dog bite attack cases, punitive damages may be awarded. Punitive damages is an amount meant to punish and/or deter behavior.

Minnesota Dog Bite Law: Punitive Damages
Our law firm has obtained punitive damages in a Minnesota dog bite case. Punitive damages are meant to punish behavior as a deterrent to future, similar behavior.
Pit Bull Bite and Pit Bull Attack
Pit bull bites and pit bull attacks can cause serious injury or death. There is usually a claim for disfigurement due to a face bite, arm bite, leg bite, etc. Pit bulls can also bite the head or neck and cause death. There have also been cases of amputation.
Rottweiler Attack and Killed by Rottweiler
Rottweilers are ranked second behind Pit Bulls for number of fatal human attacks. With a Rottweiler dog bite injury, there is almost always a claim for disfigurement because a dog bite makes jagged tears in the skin and very frequently there is loss of soft tissue. If the victim survives a bite to the face, neck, arms or legs, they are scarred physically and emotionally for life.
