Munire Crib Recall: Fall Hazard

Munire Furniture RecallA Munire crib fall hazard prompted a February 2008 crib recall of about 24,000 Majestic Curved Top and Flat Top Cribs, Essex Cribs, Brighton/Sussex Cribs and Captiva Cribs. The Piscataway, N.J. firm recalled the defective cribs because they failed to meet federal crib safety standards. The crib support brackets on the mattress support spring are too long, and preventing the spring from lowering to the full 26-inch minimum height in its lowest position, which could allow children inside the crib to crawl over the railing and pose a fall hazard. The recalled Munire cribs were sold at specialty juvenile product stores nationwide from November 2005 through November 2007.

Recalled Munire cribs have manufacture dates between Nov. 1, 2005 and Nov. 1, 2007, and include the following models:

  • Majestic Curved Top cribs with model number 9500
  • Majestic Flat Top cribs with model number 9000
  • Essex cribs with model number 7100
  • Brighton/Sussex cribs with model number 9100
  • Captiva cribs with model number 5100

Crib model numbers are printed on the white label on the bottom inside of the right side rail and the date of manufacture is printed on a white label near the model number or on a white label on the bottom of the headboard.
