Colorado Salmonella Outbreak - Beef Packers Ground Beef
The Colorado Salmonella outbreak has prompted Beef Packers to issue a recall of about 825,769 pounds of ground beef products. The Beef Packers/Cargill recall involves ground beef products were produced on various dates ranging from June 5, 2009 through June 23, 2009. They were distributed to retail distribution centers in Arizona, California, Colorado and Utah.
Please be aware that the recalled ground beef was repackaged into consumer-size packages and sold under different retail brand names. TO FIND OUT IF GROUND BEEF YOU HAVE IN THE FREEZER IS THE RECALLED BEEF, CALL THE RETAILER. Our law firm is advocating for more retailer information to be provided to consumers when there is a recall, and there has been progress. More needs to be done.

Colorado Salmonella Outbreak Tied to Beef
King Soopers Inc. of Denver has recalled 466,236 pounds of ground beef products sold in retail after state and federal health investigators associated the meat with a Colorado Salmonella outbreak that has infected at least 14 people. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has identified the type of bacteria in the outbreak as Salmonella Typhimurium DT104.
King Soopers belongs to the Kroger Co. family of grocery stores and the recalled beef was sold in retail stores in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service said the products were sold between May 23 and June 23 of this year. While investigators believe the meat has all been sold by retailers, many consumers who bought it may have put it in the freezer for storage.
With that much ground beef being recalled, it would seem possible for other cases of Salmonella to be confirmed.
National food safety law firm Pritzker Olsen Attorneys would like to help anyone who has been victimized in this outbreak by eating ground beef distributed by King Soopers and becoming ill. Our lawyers are deeply experienced in foodborne illness litigation and we are representing survivors of Salmonella poisoning around the country.

Alamosa, Colorado, Salmonella Outbreak
According to The Denver Post story, Miya Spangler, one of the lab-confirmed cases, became ill last Tuesday:
"Last Tuesday she woke up after midnight crying. She had a really high fever and bad diarrhea," said Miya's mother, 20-year-old Amanda Spangler.Posted March 2008.
"I had a really bad feeling about it," she said.
She took her daughter to the doctor the day officials realized they were in the grip of a salmonella outbreak caused by contaminated city drinking water.
"I felt terrible because I gave her the bottle, the formula, that made her sick," Amanda said. "For two days she had no expression on her face. She just lay there."
Miya's father, Joey, said that for part of her week-long illness his daughter was either asleep or crying.
The water was bad, so her parents couldn't bathe her to bring down her temperature, which her mother said topped out at 105.9 degrees.
The baby had a terrible rash. She threw up. She had blood in her stool, her mother said.
