January 16, 2007 - Four people died in three crashes on Minnesota roads on Monday, January 15, the morning after a heavy snow.

An Elk River man was killed Monday morning after he lost control of his SUV on Interstate 494 in Eagan. When he stepped out to inspect the damage, his SUV was hit by another vehicle that had spun out of control. The Elk River man was hit by his SUV and thrown to his death.

Around the same time, two other people were killed near Zumbrota after their van crossed into oncoming traffic on Highway 52, hit another van head-on and burst into flames. The driver of the other van was hospitalized.

A Prior Lake man died after his car skidded across the center line and collided head-on with a semi on County Road 86 on the Rice-Scott county line.
