A semi truck was westbound in a no-passing zone when he attempted to pass a pickup truck as it started to turn left. The semi slammed into the pickup propelling both trucks into an abandoned motel.

The passenger of pickup was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband, the driver of the pickup, was seriously injured.

The semi driver was driving a 2005 Freightliner with two flatbed trailers.

This accident is similar to one we are handling where a semi truck passed a line of vehicles stopped on a two-lane road and hit a motorcycle that was turning left. It is baffling that a "professional" driver would make this kind of mistake. We know some great semi truck drivers, but there are truck drivers who should not be on the road.

Our semi accident attorneys are representing a motorcyclist who, while turning left, was hit by a semi truck passing illegally. Following the accident, the motorcyclist had to have his leg amputated.

Wrongful Death Semi Accident Investigation

Once retained in a fatal semi accident case, Pritzker Olsen attorneys will investigate the crash. Our investigation will involve accident reconstruction, examination of the truck driver's driving record and research into the trucking company's accident history.

In addition to investigation of the accident, we take time to get to know about the person who died. We want to know the role that person played in the family, what the person’s job was, what their future looked like, and who that person was and their role in the community. We strive to get a true sense of that person so that we can persuasively present evidence as to the value of their life and the great loss sustained.

In most states, wrongful death laws allow next of kin to recover on a wrongful death claim. Next of kin usually includes spouse, parents, children, grandparents, siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
