Personal Injury and Wrongful Death
Head On Collision with Semi Truck:
Lawyer for Investigation and Lawsuit
An eastbound semi truck crossed the center line on a county road, and struck a westbound car. The driver of the car was killed instantly.
After hitting the car, the semi continued off the road about 150 feet and struck a tree. The semi truck driver was not injured.
In the video below, Attorney Eric Hageman discusses some of the issues involved when a semi truck hits a car or other vehicle.
Head On Collision with Semi Truck Investigation
In a head on collision with a semi, very often the crash is caused due to a distracted or drowsy driver. According to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration study, a semi truck driver is 4.5 times more likely to have an accident due to drowsiness than a driver of any other vehicle.
The study went on to say that the semi driver accident rate is higher due to number of hours of operation as well as the amount of time on the road and number of miles logged. It goes without saying that there is a greater risk of injury in heavy vehicle crashes.
It is vital to preserve the drivers logs as quickly as possible to prevent them from being destroyed and to verify times on the road and compliance with regulations. If you retain one of our lawyers to represent you, we will request the drivers logs immediately. We will also launch an independent investigation into the accident, reconstructing the accident, examining the truck driver's driving record and researching the trucking company's accident history to build a strong case for settlement or litigation.
