Camper Trailer Hit by a Semi Truck

A semi truck hit a Ford Explorer pulling a camper trailer, causing the vehicle and camper to rollover multiple times.

According to the state patrol, the accident happened when a semi truck lost its brakes. The semi driver was unable to use the runaway truck ramp because it was occupied by another semi truck.

The camper was disintegrated, with belongings scattered for more than a 100 yards along the highway. The semi continued traveling off the road for an additional 100 more yards before coming to a stop in a ditch.

The semi driver was cited for careless driving because his truck had been traveling too fast at the time the brakes burned out.

The occupants of the Ford Explorer, had to be extricated from their vehicle with the Jaws of Life. The driver suffered two breaks in his neck, a heart attack and a blood clot in his head. His wife suffered severe whiplash. Their dog, Jericho, was injured in the accident and died the next day.
