Recall of Rival Slow Cookers for Potential Burning Hazard
July 29, 2005--In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), The Holmes Group, of Milford, Mass., is voluntarily recalling about 2.6 million Rival Slow Cookers. The handles on the base of the slow cookers can break, posing a risk of burns from hot contents spilling onto consumers. The recall includes Rival® Crock-Pot® slow cookers with model numbers 3040, 3735, 5025, 5070 and 5445 manufactured before 2004. These Rival slow cookers were sold at Wal-Mart, Kmart, Target, and other discount stores nationwide from January 1999 through May 2005.

Recall of Sportcraft Treadmills
July 28, 2005--In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Sportcraft Ltd., of Mt. Olive, N.J., is voluntarily recalling about 12,000 Tredex 6.0, TX 440 and TX 550 Treadmills. The treadmill can unexpectedly accelerate and cause users to fall and sustain injuries.

Recall of Polaris Snowmobiles

July 28, 2005--In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Polaris Industries Inc., of Medina, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 7,800 Polaris “900 Fusion” “900 RMK” and “900 Switchback” Snowmobiles. There are three separate issues involved in this safety recall. First, the nut that fastens the upper control arm ball joint to the suspension spindle can loosen. If this occurs, continued operation could allow the spindle to break and release the upper control arm, posing a risk of loss of control of the vehicle. Second, the fuel tanks can contact the chassis along the bulkheads leading to wear on the tank walls. This could pose a fuel leakage and possible fire hazard to consumers. Finally, the gasket sealing the fuel pump assembly to the tank can develop cracks. This poses a risk of fuel leakage and fire hazard to consumers. Polaris has received 32 reports of spindle damage and two reports of fuel leaks.

Recall of Graco Duo Tandem Strollers and MetroLite Strollers

July 7, 2005--In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Graco Children’s Products Inc., of Exton, Pa., is voluntarily recalling about 1 million Duo Tandem and about 143,000 MetroLite strollers. These strollers can fail to latch properly and unexpectedly collapse while in use. This can result in broken bones, cuts, bumps, bruises and other injuries to young children riding in the stroller and consumers pushing the stroller. For the Duo Tandem strollers, Graco has received reports of 230 injuries, including a broken arm and a severe cut requiring 46 stitches.

July 6, 2005--In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Dorel Juvenile Group, of Columbus, Ind., announced a warning today for parents and caregivers who purchased the Safety 1st Tubside Bath Seats. The company has sold about 250,000 units to date. The bath seats are not intended and should not be used with certain non-traditional or sunken bathtubs. In these types of tubs, the bath seat can break, tip over and a child can fall into the water.

The aluminum center section of the wheel can come apart causing the tire and rim to unexpectedly separate from the ATV, posing a risk of serious injury if the rider loses control of the vehicle.
