Attorney Elliot Olsen
Elliot Olsen practices in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, products liability, automobile accidents, medical malpractice, and foodborne illness litigation. As a recognized leader in these areas, he has taught a number of continuing legal education courses on a broad range of topics, including insurance coverage, appellate advocacy, trial advocacy, various personal injury topics, and tort reform. In 2011, he was again named a “Super Lawyer” by Minnesota Super Lawyers.
Mr. Olsen received his undergraduate degree from Carleton College and his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Upon graduation from law school, he clerked for the Honorable Gary L. Crippen of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Mr. Olsen is a Certified Civil Trial Specialist with the Minnesota State Bar Association and is a successful veteran of numerous jury trials. He has also argued a substantial number of appeals.
Mr. Olsen is licensed to practice law in Minnesota and Iowa. He represents clients in other states by retaining the services of a local attorney, who then moves to have him admitted pro hac vice, meaning "for this particular occasion."
Mr. Olsen is married to Lea B. Olsen, a broadcaster for the Minnesota Timberwolves. She does halftime features for over-the-air Timberwolves games and also sideline reporting for Minnesota high school basketball tournaments. Mr. Olsen and his wife have two young children.
When not practicing law, Mr. Olsen enjoys spending time with his family, trying new restaurants, running, and playing golf. He also enjoys traveling, and has been to Europe, Australia, Southeast Asia, and China.

Elliot Olsen News
Elliot Olsen was recently elected by his peers to the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). The preservation of the civil jury trial, "Justice by the People," is the primary purpose of ABOTA. His election was based on his substantial jury trial experience and the recommendations of colleagues.
Elliot Olsen Named a Super Lawyer
In recognition of his achievements, Elliot Olsen was selected as a "Minnesota Super Lawyer" by Law & Politics magazine.
Elliot Olsen recently spoke at the Fresh Produce Association of the Americas in Nogales, Arizona. His talk focused on the importance of being able to track produce from an individual bag back to the exact field where it was grown. This kind of tracking is the best and quickest way to stop an outbreak and to prevent “innocent” produce growers from being wrongly implicated. He also encouraged the industry to support better product inspection and improved pathogen testing methods.![]()
Elliot and his son Will had the chance to hang out with Joe Mauer at the Highland Friendship Club's fourth annual Lanes for Friendship fundraiser. The bowling event, sponsored by our firm, raised more than $30,000 for the organization, which is based in St. Paul and helps young adults with disabilities make friends, learn new skills and have fun.
